"Date Me"

For one of my projects at the moment is from the ISTD live brief. It's called 'Fakery' and purely a typographic project. Im just having a play around with the different themes i could use, others have gone for political statements, or the commercial side for example make up etc... I'm having a look into the 'online presence' way and how people represent themselves, for example online dating. The above poster was experimenting with screen printing the typography and words.

I like the rough and ready feel from this 'experiment'!

Thanks!

"Shoot the Freak"

More from my NYC series of silk screened prints. Playing around with colours and different textures to get the right feel.  My favourite is probably the orange and blue print, i think the colours work well together and reminds me of the grittiness of Coney Island itself. Another favourite is the blue yellow and pink, however only for the reasons it feels like its playing mind tricks when you actually look at the print closely which is crazy!

There are all A2 prints.

Thanks!

What's up?!

They always say university is go go go, but then i swear all the work just lands on you at once... So thought i would just have a little chat about the project's which i am working on at the moment and show you them later when i am finished..

1)Fakery. A live brief from ISTD. A really open brief to take your spin on whatever you believe is fake. I have taken the path of the social media and networking sights.

2) A title sequence. A brief set from my tutor to recreate a title sequence. I chose Amalie as i thought it was perfect timing going to Paris i could take some photos and turn it into a stop animation, a lot harder than i thought!

3) My newest brief. Basically go away and write your own brief, it can be ANYTHING to do with typography. I thought about words obviously being a big part in type and would like to take some quotes and play around with different ideas to do with type and play around with hand rendered typefaces. I also want to think of a BIG way to execute the idea.

I'll update again soon and show you my outcomes!

Gay Parie.

'Blue' at Sacre Coeur.

 'Around' at Sacre Coeur.

 'Sticky' at Moulin rouge.

'Skull porn' at erotic art museum.

'Beauty in the building' at Notre dame.

 'Six million bodies' at Catacombs.

'Silence in black and white'                                 'People' at Catacombs.
                          at Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

Here are some snaps which i took from paris a couple of weeks ago. Amazing city, i think the Catacombs was my favourite place, has a strange feeling in the air and so much history. Let me know what you think. I'm going to turn a few snaps into silk screened prints...

I thought it would be appropriate to past my wall up on here, as i spend quite a lot of time staring into it thinking about new ideas and my general thoughts. Well  I like it anyway!

Hot off the press.

So i thought it was about time to create some prints and get my work out there. 'We are Birmingham' are going to sell my prints in there shop which i feel is an achievement, almost the first milestone...many more to come i'm sure. This print is titled 'A touch of cherry blossom' and it was inspired by a elective i took on Japanese art and culture.

'Lush'
Originally i only did this print so i could use it behind 'A touch of cherry blossom', however i love the way it turned out and the colour is beautiful. I like the more random feel to this print, which is unlike most my work, its less precise. Put Bon Iver into the room and i instantly feel inspired.

Silks and Screens.

We had a 'Anti Charity' Brief. Simple enough, just to create a poster about anti charity. I want to use silk screening within my work where ever possible and thought this would be the perfect opportunity. This was my 'spiv'. I wanted to do a very messy image, and i like the extra ink off the page. These arn't the edited ones.  But im happy.
